A day in the life of a Harris Academy student
What makes Harris Academy special is the balance between strong academics and hands-on, real-world learning. Students participate in project-based activities that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. This may include science experiments, creative writing projects, STEM challenges, or life skills activities. Throughout the day, students also have opportunities for movement, outdoor time, and social interaction, helping them stay energized and connected. Flexible scheduling allows students to work at their own pace while still building responsibility and independence.

Engaging projects and enriching experiences
Students regularly engage in project-based learning that connects real-world skills to classroom concepts. These projects may include building and presenting business ideas, participating in STEM challenges, creating art and media projects, or exploring science through hands-on experiments. In addition to academic projects, students have opportunities to participate in enrichment activities and clubs based on their interests. These may include leadership groups, entrepreneurship experiences, creative arts, and collaborative team projects that encourage communication and problem-solving. Harris Academy also emphasizes life skills and real-world readiness. Students may take part in activities that teach financial literacy, goal setting, public speaking, and teamwork—skills that prepare them for success beyond the classroom. Field trips, community involvement, and special themed learning days add another layer of excitement and engagement, giving students meaningful experiences.

A supportive and connected community
At Harris Academy, we create a close-knit, family-like environment where every student feels known, safe, and supported. Students work together through small groups and team activities, building strong relationships and learning to communicate and collaborate. Teachers serve as both educators and mentors, providing individualized attention and encouragement. We promote a culture of kindness, respect, and open communication so students feel confident asking questions and being themselves. At Harris Academy, students are part of a supportive community where they can grow, connect, and succeed together.
Building confidence, critical thinking, and independence for the future
Harris Academy helps students build confidence, critical thinking, and independence through personalized learning and hands-on experiences. Students are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, and think creatively through project-based activities and real-world challenges. With small group instruction and individualized support, students gain the confidence to work at their own pace and take ownership of their learning. Opportunities like leadership roles, presentations, and goal-setting help students develop independence and strong decision-making skills. At Harris Academy, students are empowered to believe in themselves, think critically, and take initiative—preparing them for success both in and out of the classroom.
